My name is Norhan ,and I was a participant in the first Egyptian brain bee last year. Unlike most of the other participants , it was my first time to read about neuroscience and try self learning. For that reason, I was shocked when I found out that I made it to the second round. Probably , you want to know how I studied for the brain bee. You should start with the text books but they’re not enough. If you don’t go to a language school , you’ll have some difficulty , at the beginning, getting used to studying in English but it’s not that bad , it just needs time. Watching videos was my favorite way to simplify the chapters in the text books. The best way to study is to read a chapter or a specific topic then watch a video that summarizes this topic , in addition to the brain bee videos, try a crash course video on YouTube or a video on my favorite website , Khan Academy and then reread the topic to make sure you haven’t missed out any details. Remember , have fun and don’t stress yourself out , this should be fun , it isn’t school , no one is forcing you to do that. Try to be active at the study group on Facebook , the mentors are so kind , friendly and helpful. My last advice for you is to make sure that your purpose for this competition is not to win but to know more about neuroscience and decide if you’d like to specialize in it in the future.

" I am a senior year student who accidentally participated in a competition that literally changed a lot in my mentality. My experience with EBB simply helped me find a passion in neuroendocrinology. Neuroscience is a game of logic the more you read about it the more the urge you get for knowledge. May your dopamine level be ever in your favour! "

"I've always liked physics for being realistic and straightforward and never thought any other field of science is as important. I was wrong. EBB showed me the magnificent world of neuroscience and changed how I perceived biology in general. It was an absolutely life-changing experience."
